Blogs – What’s good about them?

Blogs became popular in 1999 due to company's developing blogging tools, one of the first was Open Diary which was launched in October 1998. One of the most popular blogging sites, which i'm using now (Blogger) was actually launched by Pyra Labs (co-founded by Meg Hourihan & Evan Williams) in August 1999 then bought by Google in February 2003.

They are used for many reasons and by different people, there's mainly: Leisure (used by everyday people as a hobby, as a diary or to update friends on news), Journalism (to broadcast news), Politics (to connect with the voters more without having to go from door to door), Feedback (used by company's to get feedback) and Commercial (to advertise something).

The main point should be what's good about them (the title), but it really depends on who, and what, it's used for. like I shown in the last paragraph it is used for many reasons, but there is more types of people who use blogs (malicious people and innocent people, with wider categories).

Generally I would say everything about blogs are good, the freedom of the templates (also I can/have edited the HTML), ease of use, and most of the time how there used. But it's not what's good about them, it's how (and what) people use them, they could be used illegally in many way, like: selling drugs, adult material, abuse (verbal & videos of physical), modified software (viruses or cracked software, like Photoshop, usely shared on Torrent sites), and various other ways.
